Microsoft Deployment is the next version of Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) 2007. It is the recommended process and toolset to automate desktop and server deployment. Microsoft Deployment provides detailed guidance and job aids for every organizational role involved with large-scale deployment projects.

Microsoft Deployment unifies the tools and processes required for desktop and server deployment into a common deployment console and collection of guidance. The fourth generation deployment accelerator adds integration with recently released Microsoft deployment technologies to create a single path for image creation and automated installation. Microsoft Deployment’s tools and end-to-end guidance reduce deployment time, standardize desktop and server images, limit service disruptions, reduce post-deployment help desk costs, and improve security and ongoing configuration management.

Volume Activation Management Tool

The Volume Activation Management Tool enables IT professionals to automate and centrally manage the volume activation process using a Multiple Activation Key (MAK). VAMT v1.0 is only available as a US-EN (x86) release.

The Microsoft Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT ) is part of Microsoft Volume Activation 2.0 and allows organizations to manage the activation of their Windows Vista and Longhorn Server computers using Multiple Activation Key (MAK) keys.A MAK performs a one time activation of computers against Microsoft. Once the computers are activated they require no further communication with Microsoft. The number of computers that can be activated with a specific MAK is based on the type and level of the organizations’s volume license agreement with Microsoft.MAK Independent Activation: Each computer individually connects and activates with Microsoft either online or via telephone

MAK Proxy Activation: One centralized activation request on behalf of multiple computers with one online connection to Microsoft

Activation Status: Ability to determine the activation status of Windows Vista and Longhorn Server computers in the environment

Remaining MAK activations: The current remaining activations associated with a MAK key

XML Import/Export: Allows for exporting and importing of data in a well formed XML format to enable activation of systems in disconnected environment scenarios

Local reactivation: Enables reactivation of computers, that has been previously activated using MAK, after rebuild or reimage by applying the Confirmation Id

Multiple Activation Key (MAK) REQUIRED: In order to use VAMT, a valid MAK is required. MAK keys can be obtained from the Microsoft Licensing portals by customers with a valid Volume License Agreement.

Windows Easy Transfer for your Windows XP or Windows 2000 based PC helps you so that you can automatically copy your files, photos, music, email, settings, and more to your new Windows Vista based PC. This software enables you to transfer data with Easy Transfer Cables (Windows 2000 not supported) or across a network, external drive, or CD/DVD.

The Windows Easy Transfer software is already built into Windows Vista, so it is not necessary to install it on a Windows Vista based PC. Scriptomatic 2.0

Scriptomatic 2.0 is the utility that writes WMI scripts for you. (And, in the process, teaches you the fundamental concepts behind writing WMI scripts for yourself.) Unlike its predecessor, Scriptomatic 2.0 isn’t limited to writing just VBScript scripts; instead, Scriptomatic 2.0 can write scripts in Perl, Python, or JScript as well. In addition, Scriptomatic 2.0 gives you a host of new output formats to use when running scripts, including saving data as plain-text, as a stand-alone Web page, or even as XML.
